Freedom of Ignorance?

dsc_7241

Ignorance? Of whom? The politicians, the people fighting for what possibly could be the ‘right’ thing to do (or the left if you read this post in an other way than I wrote it) or the tourist who of course know what’s going on in the world, but still do what they always do. As is everybody I suppose. So, if something needs to change, is sleeping in a tent beneath a cardboard sign the best way to accomplish this? Or should we all contribute in our own little place on this planet?

June 2011, London 1

A quick visit to London. I swiftly realized that there are more tourists in London than that there actual people living in London.  I discovered that the pubs close to early to find someone  who isn’t loaded after 23:oo on a Friday evening and that the fashion of the ladies is most amusing to say the least and worth while looking into, in the most literal sense of that statement. Nevertheless, coming from Amsterdam, I really liked the vibes in that little big city.

Kill the Birds

dsc_7165

Birds on display. Hummingbirds, loads of them, many from the same species. Some have faded colors, some are brand new additions. There are signs in the cabinet telling which bird was captured where and when an by whom. For some birds the sign also mentions the year that particular species was extinct. Makes me wonder, what if we didn’t kill that many to fill our collections and satisfy our curiosity after their insides…When will we be in such a cabinet, it is inevitable, our ancestors already have these signs in many cabinet displays.

June 2011, Alsace 2

The second (and last) set of pictures from a little week away from home. Funny how being in another place but home triggers the hunt for the things that are different from home. Usually these differences are easy to spot and these are the photographs you make. I make. But what does one has to do to make better pictures than every body else is taking and at the same time make these pictures have value besides just being nice pictures?

Cornview

Ever wondered what it is that people see when they start looking? Corn on the ceiling, shapes against the sky, colors in harmony or just something weird you don’t see everyday? Every view on matter is unique, but maybe there are things more weird nearby your home that you don’t even notice as being not so normal than the corn that’s hanging on the ceiling of a house in some little town in your vacation area…
